March 2026 update

The 2025-26 school year is going great at PCC! We have three preschool classrooms, plus our infant and toddler room with a wonderful team of teachers and assistants.

Since the Fall, demolition and structural work has been going on next door as we get ready to transform the former 3Rs Preschool space into two more updated preschool classrooms so we can expand our capacity.

With the help of our super architect Mark Seder and the wonderful builders at McCormack Construction (plus lots of local contractors doing the insulation, HVAC, lighting, plumbing, flooring, painting and more) our expansion project is underway. This project is funded by a $1.5 million Community Project Funding federal grant we received, thanks to Oregon Senator Ron Wyden.

We will also be building new stairs and an access ramp to the upper level of the building, providing wheelchair and stroller access to the child care space and offices for the first time! A roof canopy will eventually cover the ramp, providing all-weather protection to this entrance. This part of the project is funded by grants from Pendleton Foundation Trust, Wildhorse Foundation, Oregon Community Foundation, The Ford Family Foundation, and Pacific Power Foundation.

501(c)(3) Nonprofit

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our board of directors is committed to providing high-quality child care and early education to help alleviate the shortage of child care in Pendleton.

This shortage impacts not only parents of young children, but their employers and Pendleton’s economic vitality as a whole. It’s a nationwide problem, but the Pendleton community has the ability and responsibility to come together, fix this problem and create a place that will help generations of our children thrive.

Pendleton could be known as “The Most Child-Friendly Community East of the Cascades” – but it will take all of us working together to make this dream a reality.

Strategic Goals

Pendleton Children’s Center will build and operate a non-profit child care center and preschool located in Pendleton, Oregon, to as many families who need child care as possible.
Due to the critical shortage of child care infrastructure in the region, our capital campaign will raise funding to build a modern, efficient child care center.
Pendleton Children’s Center’s operations will be funded by tuition, grants, donations, fundraisers and we will be asking for financial support from the local employers whose employees are working parents.
Our teaching staff will have backgrounds in early childhood education and will participate in ongoing training to create the highest quality educational environment for children from birth through preschool, to prepare children to reach their full potential.
Pendleton Children’s Center will pay our staff fairly and will provide health and retirement benefits in order to recruit and retain excellent employees.
Pendleton Children’s Center will seek accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which is the highly-regarded mark of quality for child care centers nationwide.
